RICHMOND, Va. – Huguenot enters the 2026 season with strong recognition across the Richmond-area high school football landscape.
The Falcons are ranked in the top four of every local preseason poll recognized by Huguenot Football, including two No. 2 rankings, two No. 3 rankings and one No. 4 ranking.
Huguenot currently sits:
No. 2 — RVA Sports Network
No. 2 — WRIC 8Sports Blitz
No. 3 — Virginia Preps
No. 3 — Richmond Times-Dispatch
No. 4 — CBS 6 / 910 The Fan
While preseason rankings have no impact on district standings, region ratings or postseason seeding, they remain a longtime part of the high school football conversation in Central Virginia. For Huguenot, the five polls provide a snapshot of how established local media members, broadcasters and coaches view the Falcons entering the regular season.
RVA Sports Network Places Huguenot at No. 2
Huguenot earned one of its highest local preseason positions from RVA Sports Networ Super 12 Poll, which ranked the Falcons No. 2 in the Richmond area.
The RVA Sports Network rankings are conducted by Rob Witham, a local media member and Chief Operating Officer of RVA Sports Network.
The No. 2 placement puts Huguenot among the area’s most highly regarded programs heading into the 2026 season and adds another recognized voice to the Richmond-area rankings landscape.
Falcons No. 2 in WRIC’s Great 8
Huguenot also checks in at No. 2 in the WRIC 8News Great 8.
The Great 8 is compiled by WRIC Sports Director Nolan Knight and reporter Madelyn Frentress.
The ranking is the newest of the five local polls recognized by Huguenot Football, having debuted in 2025.

Entering its second season, the Great 8 has quickly become another notable part of Richmond-area high school football coverage, and Huguenot begins 2026 just one spot from the top.
Virginia Preps Ranks Falcons No. 3 Locally
Virginia Preps has Huguenot ranked No. 3 in its Richmond-area preseason rankings.
The local poll is compiled by Danny Lewis and provides another established perspective on the top programs around Central Virginia.
The No. 3 placement adds to the broader local consensus surrounding Huguenot entering 2026, with every recognized poll placing the Falcons firmly among the area’s top teams.
Times-Dispatch Continues Longstanding Tradition
Huguenot is also No. 3 in the Richmond Times-Dispatch preseason poll.
Among the local rankings recognized by Huguenot Football, the Times-Dispatch poll carries the longest history and has been part of Richmond-area high school football coverage for generations.
The 2026 rankings are compiled by Matthew Kiewiet, Zach Joachim and Savannah Reger.

The Times-Dispatch poll has long served as one of the area’s most recognizable preseason and in-season measuring sticks, and Huguenot again begins the year inside the top three.
CBS 6 / 910 The Fan Poll Brings Coaches Into the Vote
Huguenot is ranked No. 4 in the CBS 6 / 910 The Fan poll, which stands apart from the other local rankings because of the significant involvement of area coaches.
The voting includes WTVR CBS 6 Sports Director Lane Casadonte and Sean Robertson, along with other members of the Touchdown Club of Richmond.

Members of 910 The Fan, including Gary Hess, Gary Criswell and Steve Adams, also participate in the vote.
Many Richmond-area high school football coaches are members of the Touchdown Club of Richmond, giving the poll substantial input from coaches themselves in addition to local media members.
That makes it the closest thing among the recognized local rankings to a traditional coaches poll and gives it a different perspective from the media-driven polls around it.
Five Local Rankings Huguenot Recognizes
The continued growth of social media has created an increasing number of unofficial high school football rankings across the Richmond area.
Huguenot Football recognizes five local polls based on their established connection to Richmond-area high school football, identifiable voters or ranking processes and the experience of the people responsible for producing them.
Virginia Preps Also Ranks Huguenot No. 2 in Class 4
Huguenot’s preseason recognition extends beyond the Richmond area.
Virginia Preps has the Falcons ranked No. 2 statewide in Class 4, behind defending state champion Varina.
The Class 4 ranking is separate from Virginia Preps’ local Richmond-area poll and places Huguenot among the top teams in its classification entering the season.
That distinction is significant for a program coming off consecutive strong seasons and preparing to compete again in Region 4B.
Recognition Before the Games Begin
Preseason rankings will not determine what happens once the regular season starts.
They do not decide region standings or postseason positioning.
They do, however, reflect the expectations surrounding a program before the first official snap.
Across the five local polls recognized by Huguenot Football, the Falcons are ranked anywhere from No. 2 to No. 4.
Virginia Preps also has Huguenot No. 2 statewide in Class 4.
That combination of local and statewide recognition places the Falcons firmly among the teams expected to be part of the Richmond-area and Class 4 conversation throughout the 2026 season.
