RICHMOND, Va. – As the 2026 season approaches, Huguenot Football has earned recognition from several of the nation’s leading high school football publications, appearing in multiple statewide preseason rankings.

The Falcons received their highest preseason ranking from Sports Illustrated High School (SBLive), checking in at No. 11 in the publication’s Virginia Power 25. The ranking places Huguenot among the Commonwealth’s top programs entering the season and alongside many of Virginia’s traditional football powers.

On3/Rivals also recognized the Falcons, ranking Huguenot No. 15 in its Virginia preseason rankings. The On3 rankings are based on the Massey Ratings, a nationally recognized mathematical rating system that analyzes previous game results, strength of schedule and margin of victory. The Massey Ratings were notably used during the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) era of college football and remain one of the sport’s most respected computer ranking systems.

MaxPreps rounded out the statewide recognition by placing Huguenot No. 24 in its Virginia Top 25 preseason rankings. MaxPreps utilizes its own proprietary rating system to evaluate teams from across the state heading into the new season.

Although each publication uses a different methodology, all three identify Huguenot as one of Virginia’s top football programs entering 2026. Preseason rankings carry no impact on district standings, region standings or postseason qualification, but they have become a longtime tradition that generates excitement and discussion throughout Virginia’s high school football community. They serve as an early snapshot of how media outlets and ranking systems view the state’s top programs before kickoff.

For Huguenot, the recognition is another reflection of the respect the Falcons have earned across the Commonwealth. Beginning September 4, the focus shifts from preseason projections to Friday night performance as Huguenot looks to continue building on the success of recent seasons.
