Huguenot takes the Spotlight at 804 Media Day

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – The road to the 2026 season continued Tuesday morning as Huguenot Football participated in 804 Media Day at the Richmond Times-Dispatch Headquarters, joining many of Central Virginia’s premier programs for one of the region’s signature preseason events.

Representing the Falcons were head coach Charles Scott Sr., Alabama quarterback commit Charles Scott Jr., South Carolina wide receiver commit Iveon Lewis, and Virginia defensive back commit Zayvon Miller.

Throughout the morning, Huguenot met with reporters from television stations, newspapers, digital media outlets and radio stations from across the Richmond area, providing insight into the program’s expectations, culture and goals entering the 2026 season.

The event began with a press conference-style session, where coaches and student-athletes answered questions before members of the media assembled inside the auditorium. Following the opening session, participants rotated through a series of breakout interview rooms, allowing local outlets to conduct one-on-one interviews with coaches and players from each program.

During his media availability, Scott discussed the identity he has worked to establish since taking over the Falcons in 2023. He explained that Huguenot strives to play an exciting brand of football that energizes the community and creates an atmosphere fans look forward to experiencing every Friday night. Scott noted that while the Falcons have produced several high-scoring performances in recent seasons, the objective has never been about disrespecting opponents. Instead, the focus is on continuing to execute at a high level while providing an entertaining product for the community.

Scott also spoke about football’s impact beyond wins and losses. He emphasized the importance of creating an environment that brings families, students and community members together each Friday night, believing that an exciting atmosphere around Huguenot Football gives young people and families something positive to rally around while strengthening the South Richmond community.

Lewis reflected on the unique chemistry he shares with quarterback Charles Scott Jr., a partnership that began when the two started playing football together at 12 years old. After years of building trust and timing together, Lewis expressed confidence that the connection they have developed will continue producing big plays throughout their final season as teammates.

Scott Jr. discussed the expectations he has for the offense entering 2026, explaining that his focus remains on executing at a high level every week, putting points on the scoreboard and enjoying the opportunity to compete alongside his teammates while pursuing another championship season.

Miller echoed the team’s championship mindset, telling reporters that his primary goal for his final season is to finish his Huguenot career by winning a state championship alongside the teammates he has grown with throughout the program.

For Huguenot, 804 Media Day served as more than just a preseason media event. It provided another opportunity to showcase a program that has become one of the Richmond area’s most respected over the past three seasons while highlighting the players and coaches who continue to raise the standard for Falcon football.

With Media Day complete and preseason camp well underway, the attention now shifts entirely to preparation for opening night. The conversations and predictions of the preseason are giving way to the work required to compete, as Huguenot continues its pursuit of a Dominion District championship, a Region 4B title and the program’s first VHSL Class 4 state championship.
