Game Recap: Huguenot Falls to Midlothian, 17-7
RICHMOND, Va. – Huguenot suffered its first loss of the season Friday night, falling to Midlothian 17-7 at McFee Field.
The Trojans controlled the pace for much of the night, using long possessions to keep Huguenot’s offense off the field and prevent the Falcons from ever finding a consistent rhythm.
Midlothian built a 14-0 halftime lead, scoring on two sustained drives that were extended by several penalties and disputed calls. The Falcons struggled to overcome the interruptions, and the game never developed into the type of offensive flow Huguenot had shown through the first three weeks.
Huguenot’s lone touchdown came from the defense.
Jayce Bigelow made one of the biggest plays of the night, intercepting a pass and returning it for a touchdown to cut into the Midlothian lead.
Christopher Martinez added the extra point.
Midlothian later added a field goal to account for the final margin.
Penalties were a major factor throughout the game, with both the pace and momentum repeatedly affected by flags. For Huguenot, the bigger issue was an offense that never settled in and was unable to sustain enough drives to put consistent pressure on the Trojans.
The loss drops Huguenot to 3-1 on the season.
After three straight wins to open the year, the Falcons will now turn their attention to responding next week.
