Game Recap: Huguenot Holds Off L.C. Bird, 24-20
CHESTERFIELD, Va. – Huguenot got the response it needed Friday night.
One week after suffering its first loss of the season, the Falcons bounced back with a 24-20 road victory over L.C. Bird, improving to 4-1 after surviving a late push from the Skyhawks.

Huguenot came out fast, with Randal Robinson Jr. scoring twice in the first quarter to give the Falcons an early 14-0 lead.
Bird eventually answered after Huguenot gave the Skyhawks favorable field position, cutting the lead to 14-7 before halftime.
Bostic Pushes the Lead Back Out
Huguenot opened the second half by creating separation again.
Charles Scott Jr. connected with Najarn Bostic on a long touchdown pass to extend the Falcons’ advantage to 21-7.

Bird responded with a big special teams play of its own, using a long kickoff return to set up another touchdown and pull within 21-14.
The Skyhawks continued to hang around, and Huguenot had a chance to add points when Christopher Martinez attempted a field goal, but the kick was blocked.
Martinez Delivers in the Fourth
Martinez got another opportunity in the fourth quarter and converted, pushing the Huguenot lead to 24-14.
That field goal proved important.

Bird scored again late to make it 24-20, but the extra point attempt was unsuccessful, leaving Huguenot with a four-point advantage.
The Falcons were able to hold on from there as time expired, securing a hard-fought road win.
A Needed Response
The victory came after Huguenot’s 17-7 loss to Midlothian and gave the Falcons an important bounce-back performance against a familiar opponent.

Robinson set the tone early, Bostic delivered the biggest explosive play of the second half, and Martinez added the field goal that ultimately created enough separation to survive Bird’s final push.
It was not a comfortable win, but it was a necessary one.
Huguenot 24, L.C. Bird 20
The Falcons move to 4-1 and return to the win column.
