Game Recap: Scott Jr. Makes History as Huguenot Rolls Past Clover Hill, 68-0
RICHMOND, Va. – Huguenot’s home opener turned into another record-setting night.
The Falcons overwhelmed Clover Hill 68-0 Friday at McFee Field, improving to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Dominion District play while producing another historic performance in a series that has repeatedly brought milestones for the program.
Huguenot built a 54-0 halftime lead, forcing the entire second half to be played under the VHSL running-clock mercy rule. The game itself began earlier than originally scheduled as officials attempted to stay ahead of nearby severe weather and possible lightning, though conditions never moved close enough to force a stoppage.
By the time the second half arrived, the outcome was already decided.
Scott Jr. Takes Over the Record Book
The biggest moment of the night came in the second half, when junior quarterback Charles Scott Jr. officially moved into first place in two major Huguenot career categories.
Scott entered the game with 56 career passing touchdowns, two behind former quarterback Omar Kizzie’s 58, and 59 career total touchdowns, three behind Kizzie’s mark of 62.
By the end of the night, both records belonged to Scott.
He finished 9-of-10 passing for 212 yards and four touchdowns, continuing a remarkable start to his junior season after throwing for 372 yards and three touchdowns in the season-opening win at Highland Springs.
Just two games into 2026, Scott is now Huguenot’s all-time leader in both career passing touchdowns and career total touchdowns.
It adds another chapter to a series that has already been closely connected to his rise. One year ago against Clover Hill, Scott threw for 409 yards to break Kizzie’s longtime single-game passing record.
This time, he took two more records from the same name atop the Huguenot record book.
Bailey Continues Fast Start
Sophomore Kaidyn Bailey followed up the first varsity touchdown of his career at Highland Springs with another major performance.
Bailey caught three passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns, leading Huguenot in receiving yardage.
Senior Iveon Lewis added two receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown, while Najarn Bostic continued to impact the game in multiple roles. Bostic caught three passes for 48 yards, carried once for a 5-yard touchdown and was consistently dangerous in the return game.
Bostic nearly broke both a kickoff return and punt return for touchdowns, giving Clover Hill problems every time the football reached him in space.
Jhamari Cain added an 11-yard reception, while Randal Robinson Jr. caught two passes for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Production Comes From Everywhere
Huguenot also received production on the ground and from several different parts of the roster.
Aaron Bowling carried three times for 45 yards and a touchdown, while Jahmeer Jones added 17 yards on his lone carry.
Benny Morgan also recorded a 14-yard rush.
The Falcons did not need a high-volume rushing attack because of how quickly the game opened up, but the offense continued to produce explosive plays from multiple positions.
Defense Gets Into the End Zone
The offense was not alone in putting points on the board.
Senior defensive back Zion Pleasants delivered one of the biggest defensive plays of the night when he stripped the football from a Clover Hill runner, recovered it himself and returned it for a touchdown.
Carese Boykin added another defensive score after Clover Hill muffed a punt, with Boykin recovering the loose ball and taking it into the end zone.
Those plays reflected the kind of night Huguenot had defensively and on special teams. The Falcons consistently created short fields, generated pressure and prevented Clover Hill from establishing any rhythm.
It marked the second straight week that Huguenot’s defense controlled the game from the opening half.
After holding Highland Springs to just 27 first-half yards in Week 1, the Falcons followed with their first shutout of the season.
Special Teams Adds Another Touchdown
Special teams continued to be another source of field-position advantage and points.
Jahmeer Jones returned a punt for a touchdown, adding another explosive play to a night already filled with them.
Najarn Bostic was also a constant threat in the return game, nearly breaking both a kickoff return and punt return for touchdowns. His ability to create field position and force Clover Hill to account for him on every kick added another layer to Huguenot’s dominance.
Christopher Martinez handled the kicking duties and converted all but one of his extra-point attempts.
With offensive, defensive and special-teams contributions coming throughout the night, Huguenot was able to build a 54-0 halftime advantage before the running clock shortened the second half.
Another Record Night Against Clover Hill
Clover Hill has become an unusual marker in Huguenot’s recent record book.
The Scott era began against the Cavaliers in 2023, when Huguenot won 75-6 and tied the program record for points in a game.
In 2024, the Falcons set new program marks for points in a quarter, points in a half and points in a game.
In 2025, Scott broke the school’s single-game passing record.
And now, in 2026, Scott has become the program’s all-time leader in both career passing touchdowns and career total touchdowns.
The final score was different this time, but the result again came with history attached.
Falcons Move to 2-0
The win moves Huguenot to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Dominion District play.
The Falcons have now outscored Highland Springs and Clover Hill 96-7 through the first two games of the season.
Next comes the first road district game of the year.
Huguenot travels to Cosby next week looking to continue its unbeaten start and build on a two-game stretch that has combined dominant defense, explosive offense and another major addition to the program record book.
